Mehul’s HIGH-FLOW is a highly porous, inert, and lightweight filtration medium derived from expanded volcanic glass. When crushed and graded precisely, it forms a powder-like material with a unique interlocking structure—ideal for trapping fine particles while allowing clear liquid flow.
Widely used in food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and industrial processing, HIGH-FLOW Filter Aid offers a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution for both precoat and body feed filtration systems.

Mehul HIGH-FLOW's performance benefits stem from its unique structure formed during the rapid cooling of molten volcanic lava.
Physical and Chemical Properties
- Color: White to light gray
- Odor: Odourless
- Form: Finely milled, granular powder or lightweight particles
- Porosity: Extremely high, due to its microscopic inter-particle structure
- Composition: Primarily silicon dioxide (SiO₂), with alumina (Al₂O₃), sodium oxide, and potassium oxide
- pH Level: Neutral to slightly alkaline
- Density: Very low (typically 90–160 g/L, varies by grade)
- Moisture Content: Minimal (less than 1%)
- Thermal Stability: High (greater than 800°C)

Mehul’s HIGH-FLOW as Precoat & Body Feed
Mehul’s High Flow can be applied both as a precoat layer and as a body feed additive:
Precoat
- Forms a uniform, porous cake on the filter septum (cloth, screen, or mesh)
- Prevents fine solids from clogging filter media
- Provides clean startup and protects filter elements
Body Feed
- Mixed into the slurry/liquid being filtered
- Enhances filtration efficiency and throughput
- Minimizes blinding and channeling during extended runs
Using both precoat and body feed together provides optimal filter cake structure, extending cycle times and improving filtrate clarity.
